Being the most populated city in the United States of America, the City of New York is located at one of the biggest naturally occurring harbors consisting of 5 administrative states- Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island, Queens and Brooklyn. It acts as a hub for entertainment, media, technology, fashion, education, art and research.

The city has some of the most captivating environmental sites and tourists travel from all over the world with the help Electronic System Travel Authority (ESTA) to come and see them. 

North Mount Loretto Woods.

  • It is located in the Staten Island which is the lowest populated state among the five states.
  • The North Mount Loretto Woods occupies a 75 acre piece of land which has wildlife and also is a wetland.
  • As a way of conserving the environment, the archdiocese sold the piece of land to the environmental department which is mandated to conserve the environment.
  • The parcel of land has uninterrupted coastline, mature woodlands and natural springs.
  • North Mount Loretto Woods acts as a recreational facility to the residents of Staten Island.
  • Aside from being a tourist attraction site and recreational facility, it will also act as a haven for raccoons, osprey, possums and migrant birds.

Queens Botanical Gardens Visitor Center.

  • The Visitor’s Center is located in Manhattan.
  • It is the most environmental friendly building to be built following Local Law 86, which expects construction of new and renovating of already existing buildings to adhere to energy conserving and green designs standards.
  • The complex showcases the benefits of conserving energy, architectural designs directed towards green construction and environment in general.
  • The complex has meeting rooms, an auditorium, gallery spaces and a reception.
  • The roofing of the building is made of solar panels, and the energy tapped is used in powering the building.
  • The center has impressive green features like storm water being captured sieved by grass, and then the water is directed to the water fountain. The technology has attracted both domestic and international tourist enabled by Electronic System Travel Authority (ESTA) to come and visit the center.

Ridgewood Reservoir of Urban Forest.

  • Occupying a 50 acre parcel of land, the forest is located in Queens.
  • It is home to more than 120 different species of birds.
  • It boasts as being the wildest location in the city of New York.
  • The reservoir provided the Brooklyn residents with drinking water in the 18th and 20th century.
  • The operations in the reservoir are overseen by the recreational and parks department.

West Harlem Waterfront Park.

  • It is located in Manhattan.
  • The park offers a conducive environment for jogger, bikers and those who enjoy sunbathing.
  • The Hudson River passes through the waterfront park creating a serene environment for the visitors.
  • The park fulfils the ambitions of the West Harlem Environmental Action board of cleaning the Hudson River by reducing the pollutants.
  • The park has parking lots with well-cut lawns, playing fields and spots where people can gather.
  • A children exploratory museum is in the process of completion and apart from being a recreational facility for children; they can also come to learn about different species of birds and a variety of trees.
